Bootstrapped

Sonnet.AI, DGIST’s first researcher-founded company, makes SonniX, autonomous-driving software installed on existing industrial vehicles. At POSCO it converted molten-iron locomotives to autonomous operation; they have run in production since 2023 and are now fully driverless. Its U.S. entity opened in San Jose in 2025.

What sets them apart

  • One platform, any vehicle: the same software runs locomotives, forklifts and low-speed vehicles.
  • Drives reliably indoors and outdoors, unlike most indoor-only AMRs.
  • No site changes: no magnetic tape or reflectors.

Traction

  • Driverless locomotives in production at POSCO.
  • Deployed at HMMPSA, Busan New Port.
  • First U.S. customer, a low-speed vehicle company in Los Angeles.

U.S. focus

Large industrial sites (steel, ports and auto plants), starting with smaller local businesses that run varied vehicle fleets.

Recognition

  • Korea’s first SME autonomous-driving permit (2018)
  • Korea’s first paid autonomous transport license (2021)
  • Level 4 shuttle certification (2024)
